This body of work began with the oil paintings of my late Great-Aunt Wilma. She was a prolific self-taught artist and her paintings serve as inspiration and backgrounds for my photographic tableaux. Utilizing a variety of methods of construction, I set-up scenes comprised of miniatures, craft materials, and tchotchkes, and then integrate her paintings into these. I am interested in creating updated, and invented narrative images, reminiscent of fables and wilderness myths. By combining my own thematic interests with ones suggested by Aunt Wilma's paintings, I can create a visual dialogue with her. Through our collaboration I am able to have a conversation with my great-aunt, even though it is more than twenty years after her death.
